YSA Fireside

Place: Bow Valley Chapel
Time: 6:50pm
Both Jason and I have been to numerous firesides but this one was a little bit different. I walked into the Chapel, sat down close to the front with my friends Amy and Stef, looked around the Chapel to see who I knew and then I spotted him... tall, dark and handsome. I new I was interested right away. After the fireside Amy introduced me to the new guy on the back row. His name was Jason Gourlie and he had blue eyes and a nice smile.
He called me the next day being Monday and left a message on my voicemail and it said, "Hey Carmen, this is Jason... I figured that since we couldn't keep our eyes off each yesterday that we should probably do something about it. " I laughed when I heard the message and couldn't wait to call him back. I called him right away and we talked for over three hours. We had arranged to go out on Wednesday. He called me Tuesday evening to arrange things for our date on Wednesday. After talking for a couple hours again we decided that we didn't want to wait until Wednesday and that we wanted to see each other that night. We hung up the phone and he was there within 30 min. We talked all night long and everything just seemed so natural. It was very easy to talk to him and we hit things off right away. From that night on we have been together ever since. I knew right away that he was a catch and that we were meant for each other. I love this man with all my heart and I am very thankful that we found each other. He makes me laugh, he is my biggest supporter and there is no one else that I could imagine my life with. This is were our story begins...

We went to a few Stamps games, I am learning to golf and also learning about drag racing. We both love sports and that has been an added plus for sure.
This was the day that Jason asked me to be his wife. Earlier that day we went to the Temple to do a session and in the Celestial Room he asked me to be his wife for eternity. I was very surprised because I knew that the ring was on order and that it wouldn't be in for a couple weeks. I said yes of course and a few weeks later when we were back in Calgary he took me on a Sunday drive to the location where the Calgary Temple was going to be built. That's were he asked me again to be his wife again but this time with a ring.
This is the day that Jason put the ring on my finger.
Jason's mom and my parents met after the engagement. We went out for dinner at Joey Tomatoes and had a wonderful time.
