A Glamping We Must GO!

Glamping with Sally Ann

For the past couple months Jason and I have been talking about getting a travel trailer. We love going camping with my mom and dad and their trailer. It was nice to stay in their trailer but we had enough mooching off of them and it was time to get one of our own. We also did the tent thing and it was fun and all but after the air mattress kept deflating in the middle of the night and we were left on the ground most mornings, it was time to have a roof over our head.

So we have been looking on kijiji for the past couple months and looking for sale signs in trailers. It was hard to find that perfect one. It had to be cheap and by cheap I mean dirt cheap. We didn't want to spend a lot of money on something and then not use it that often. We needed something that Jason could stand up in, which is a little tricker than you think.

We found her on kijiji. She was posted and an hour later we were at the owners house offering him a deal. We looked things over, knew she needed some love and then took her home. Our neighbours were thinking we were crazy but I could see the vision.

Here she is .... Sally Ann

A 1978 Layton, 16 ft travel trailer and she now belongs to the Gourlie's

First thing to do is to bring out the bleach, clean this baby inside out. We removed the cushions and washed them and then used them  as a pattern for the new cushions.

Jason's mom came down one weekend and helped me sew a quilt and cushion covers for the new trailer.

HERE SHE IS …. ALL DOLLED UP! This has been such a fun project.

LEAVE IT TO LEAVITT CAMPGROUND

First time out camping with Sally Ann. It was July 1st weekend and Troy invited us out to his place. We had family and friends that came and it was a lot of fun. Troy and Andrea have a beautiful home and live on 5 acres of land so it was a nice quiet place to visit. We stayed up late, ate lots of junk food and then nestled into our trailer. We had to be up at 6am because I had a work appointment back in Lethbridge that morning. It was a quick trip but it was fun to take her out for the first time.

BRIDGEVIEW CAMPGROUND

A few weekends later Jason and I didn't have any plans on a Friday night so we went down to Bridgeview Campground on the edge of Lethbridge. Jason spent most of the night trying to set up his satellite and I worked on making things cute on the inside. We never did get the tv going and we went to bed pretty early. It was still fun to take Sally Ann out again. Actually to be honest….. I was so bored and just wanted to go back home. Jason worked on the satellite until 11pm and still couldn't get a signal. Oh well…. better luck next time hun.

When you go "glamping" you must have the right attire. I went through my closet and picked out everything that would match the trailer. I know its a bit ridiculous but so fun at the same time.

KOA - GREAT FALLS CAMPGROUND

The next spot we visited was the KOA in Great Falls. Melanie also bought an older trailer and fixed it up. It is so adorable and the two trailers parked side by side look pretty darn cute.
KOA in Great Falls is such a beautiful place but the weather wasn't the nicest that weekend.
We made the best of it and had a great time with family.
One the road again…...

A must stop when you are in Great Falls is Cafe Rio. We met up with my mom and dad there and had dinner.

These were some shirts that we had made for our camping adventures.

DAISY MAE CAMPGROUND

Our last trip out of the season was to Daisy May in Fort Macleod. Jasons mom came down from Calgary to join in the fun. Jodi and Melanie also came out with their kids. Weather was perfect and it was nice to just be out of the city.

Well that was a fun year of camping. We had a blast and had a lot of fun making Sally Ann our own. Its not camping without a fire, junk food, swimming pool and of course the TV to be able to watch the Stamps game. Goodbye 2013 Camping Season. See you next year.
